THE BEST HOTELS FOR GOLF HOLIDAYS IN BIARRITZ
Including: Biarritz, Bayonne, Hossegor & Chiberta.

Regina*****

Regina hotel Biarritz

The best five-star hotel in Biarritz recently became even better!
Re-opened in late 2014 after a total makeover and an upgrade to five-stars, the Regina Hotel once again stands proudly above all the other hotels of Biarritz, both figuratively and literally from its position high on the cliff top beside the famous lighthouse.  Only the Hotel du Palais can outdo it in terms of Pays Basque luxury (but that was built by an Emperor for an Empress!).

Sitting just above the town and backing onto the Le Phare golf course, the Régina gazes out regally over all of Biarritz, the entrancing Côte Basque and the broad sweep of the Pyrenees.  The voluminous crimson and cream interior will take your breath away as you enter and marvel at the cavernous galleried lobby: unlike any other hotel we have seen.

The bedrooms are a burst of coffee, cream and gold, cosseting you in hushed luxury either overlooking the golf course or the coast. The atrium-style lobby has been restyled à la Chanel into an oasis of chic, where waiters will ferry aperitifs to the comfort of your ecru leather armchair (ladies may feel the urge to don a tiara, but there's really no need).

For dinner the restaurant awaits with tables both inside and out.  The chef has a Michelin star to his name, but sensibly there is also a less gastronomic daily menu on offer too. Outside, the Régina has a pool (with variable depth settings if you please!) surrounded by an elevated sun deck; perfect for soaking up the sun (or looking down on those around).

Another ultra-convenient facility of the Régina is its free car park in front and behind the hotel - complete with valet parking service too, which is very helpful, especially on arrival.  And once parked you can stroll to all the restaurants in town.

Radisson Biarritz****

Radisson hotel Biarritz
Radisson Hotel Biarritz****

The Biarritz Radisson hotel sits on the southern side of town, at the top of one of Biarritz's busiest streets that is lined with bars and restaurants and leads down to the Place du Marché where more lively restaurants are to be found and from there on down to the Vieux Port where there are evan more places to wine and dine!  You won't go hungry or thirsty in Biarritz and the Radisson has one of the most convenient locations on the southern side of town.

Radisson Hotel Biarritz****

A bright, modern hotel it was converted a few years ago from a listed building (an old Renault factory in fact).  This building constraint had a very beneficial effect on the size of the Radisson Biarritz's bedrooms - nice and large, as are the bathrooms, all of which have tubs and showers.  Indeed, the bedrooms are amongst the largest we've come across in a four-star hotel: making the Radisson an automatic choice for golfers who require high-quality Twin rooms.

Amongst the hotel's other attractions are the roof-top pool, restaurant and sundeck bar; so you can dip, sip or slurp whilst gazing out over the Atlantic or the Biarritz rooftops.  On the ground floor there is another bar and a 'spare' restaurant, just in case the weather precludes rooftop dining.

Radisson Hotel Biarritz****

As you might expect, given the roots of the building, car parking is very well catered for with a large underground car park. The hotel also offers limited spa facilities with a sauna and hammam plus a full range of relaxation, beauty and health therapists on hand.

Grand Tonic Hotel****

Tonic Hotel - Biarritz

A mere 250 yards from La Grande Plage, in the vibrant heart of Biarritz, the Grand Tonic Hôtel offers good quality accommodation in the very centre of town.  In addition to its excellent location, it has one of the best restaurants in Biarritz - La Maison Biarrotte that elegantly combines the best of old and new Basque cuisine (there's a small bar too).  For evenings out, all of the other restaurants, bars, the Casino and night-clubs of Biarritz are on your doorstep, so you can choose just how deep into the night you wish to play...

Bedrooms are bright and stylish many having the added luxury of whirlpool baths - just the thing after a hard day out on the course!

N.B. We would advise Superior rooms if you need Twin beds as they are slightly larger.

The Tonic hotel also benefits from its own car-parking facilities both behind the hotel and even more securely an underground car park that connects via a lift into reception.

Karitza Hotel***

Le Karitza hotel is set slightly back from the ocean towards the market square in Biarritz.  It has recently been totally overhauled to become the best value, funkiest little hotel in Biarritz!  If you intend to spend the best part of your days out and about on the golf courses, beaches or in town, the jazzy 3-star Karitza makes a lot of sense.

There is a restaurant at the hotel that serves imaginative cuisine combining Basque flavours some avant garde thinking.  Around and about you are spoilt for choice of dining options in Biarritz - like the just across the street or stroll into town for myriad more options.

Worthy of note is the compact garden behind the hotel with its small swimming pool and the added convenience of the secure car-park directly under the hotel.

Grand Hotel Bayonne****

Grand Hotel Bayonne****
Grand Hotel Bayonne****

On one of Bayonne's main streets, backing on to the old narrow lanes of the (mainly pedestrian) centre of town, the Grand Hotel enjoys a very central location.

An historic building that has been well cared for and regularly refreshed over the years, it provides a convenient, comfortable base for a golfing break in Bayonne.

Grand Hotel Bayonne****

There are 57 rooms at the hotel, split between the traditionally styled 'Prestige' rooms or the more modern 'Superior' rooms. Both are well sized with good bathrooms - so the choice is entirely up to you!

On the ground floor there is a very British looking oak-panelled bar with a doorway through to the breakfast room in its semi-conservatory setting complete with the remains of an original Roman arch.

Grand Hotel Bayonne****

There is no restaurant at the Grand Hotel Bayonne, but a wealth of dining opportunities lie just beyond the threshold and we will of course recommend some of our favourites to you before you go.

Car parking is taken care of in the nearby secure car park, for which there is a specially agreed rate for residents at the hotel.

202 Hotel***

202 Hotel Hossegor

If you like Hossegor, you'll love the new 202 Hotel!  Situated just 100yds from the Hossegor Clubhouse and only twice that distance from Hossegor's High Street, the 202 is the place to enjoy golf at Hossegor, Seignosse and Moliets in the relaxed atmosphere of this surfing little town.

202 Hotel Hossegor

The 202 could easily be a four-star hotel but the owner prefers to keep it as a three-star for various reasons.  The building is new and well designed with wide corridors, large bedrooms, all with balconies, good bathrooms and its own car-park.

202 Hotel Hossegor

Downstairs the lobby, bar and breakfast room/lounge are bright and spacious.  There is a small pool on the decking outside for a cooling dip and a refreshing cocktail maybe?  For extra R&R there is a small sauna in the basement. The 2020 has no restaurant, but there are plenty to choose from strung along the centre of Hossegor and around the lake.

Relais du Lac***

Relais du Lac Hotel Hossegor
Relais du Lac Hotel Hossegor

If all you need for your golf holiday is a simple three-star hotel offering cheery accommodation and a continental breakfast then the Relais du Lac, overlooking the lake at Hossegor could be just mhat you are looking for.  The Relais has only twenty rooms, most of which are on the lake side of the hotel having 'Juliette' balconies over the water.

Relais du Lac Hotel Hossegor

There is a very cheerful breakfast room to start your day with a burst of colour.  Half of the building is a restaurant (under separate management and very popular with the locals) that is open from May to September, so you won't have to drive into town (about a mile) for dinner if you don't want to.  A simple, friendly hotel with very keen prices.
