GOLF HOLIDAYS IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE
The best courses and hotels for golbreaks on the Côte d'Azur.

Cannes - la Croisette

Golf holidays - Cannes & Nice

Holidays in the South of France seem eternally linked with thoughts of luxury, fame and consequently expense!  However on an out of season golf holiday, whilst the weather is still warm, this is not necessarily the case.  There are plenty of golf courses dotted around the French Riviera, just don't expect any seaside links courses as this prime real estate was given over long ago to hotel and holiday home developers!

Cannes Mougins restaurants

Cannes, Nice, St. Tropez, Fréjus, St. Raphael are all magical names and you could in fact base your golf holiday in any of them if you wish as there are golf courses close to all of these resorts.  We however recommend Cannes as the place to stay for a South of France golf holiday on the coast as it is pretty much central to all the best golf courses, it's lively all year round and has nightlife a go-go!

Golf on the Côte d'Azur

The golf courses on the Cote d'Azur are predominantly set back from the coast in the hills behind.  The closest you will get to playing golf by the Mediterranean is the Old Course at Cannes-Mandelieu (built before Cannes spread West!).  So the routine favoured by most golfers on holiday in the South of France is to stay near the coast and travel inland to play, returning as the sun sinks below the deck chairs.

The other option, for a quieter golf holiday, is to stay inland somewhere like St. Endréol or Château de la Bégude and enjoy the calm evenings with just the gentle rustle of cicadas accompanying your dinner under the stars.

Flights to the South of France

For golf holidays in the South of France the easiest airport to get to is Nice.  There are plentiful flights to Nice with the both scheduled airlines and the likes of EasyJet et cetera from a range of airports across Great Britain (and Europe).

From Nice airport it will only take half-an-hour to get to your hotel in Cannes on the autoroute (or a little longer if you decide to take the pretty route along the coast).  So with an early flight you can be on the golf course by lunchtime.

We can advise on the best flights to the Cote d'Azur for your golf holiday, just let us know your preferred departure airport.  On arrival in Cannes we will arrange for a hire-car to be waiting for you or a chauffeur-driven vehicle for your party if you prefer (although chauffeurs in the South of France don't come cheap!).

Getting to Cannes by car

If you wish to pack your golf clubs into your car and head off on your golf holiday under your own steam it is a full day's drive from Calais to the South of France.

We would suggest breaking your journey with an overnight stop en-route and we know of many great little places to stay - with golf courses nearby - or even without golf!
