GOLF HOLIDAYS IN CZECHIA (Czech Republic)
A unique golf destination in central Europe.
Grand Hotel Pupp***** - Karlovy Vary
The largest, most luxurious hotel in Karlovy Vary and
in many ways the centrepiece of the town. It stands on the edge of a
woodland park at the top of the spa side of Karlovy Vary with the river
and main street extending away below it to the public gardens at the
far end.
The Grand Hotel Pupp has a gloriously old fashioned feel
to it, with chandeliers dripping from towering ceilings in the
comfortable lounges, copper clad café (with creamy cakes), voluminous
bar and ornate restaurants. The food and service befit the setting:
crisply uniformed staff will attend to your every need.
In contrast to the traditional grandeur of the public
areas, bedrooms are thoroughly modern having been totally overhauled in
the last couple of years. Standard rooms are of adequate size, most
with showers: if you prefer a larger room (and/or bath) please let us
know as there are Superior rooms and Suites too.
The Grand Hotel Pupp has recently invested a small
fortune in a state-of-the-art spa building, which is sneakily hidden
from view behind the main façade yet houses an amazing indoor pool with
an array of water jets to soothe you, along with numerous treatment
rooms to relax you and beauty salons to attract you: perfect for a
luxury spa and golf holiday.
The Grand Hotel Pupp really is the epicentre of Karlovy
Vary as it also contains the town's casino and one of it's nightclubs;
both of which however, have been sensibly concealed underground so as
not to disturb your slumber.
Embassy Hotel*** - Karlovy Vary
On the main road/river in Karlovy Vary, the Embassy hotel is a simpler alternative to the grandiose glamour of the Pupp hotel.
With just thirty rooms, it is a small family owned and run hotel where you can experience true Czech hospitality. The owner happens to be a long-standing Member of Karlovy Vary G.C. so is always especially pleased to welcome itinerant golfers to his hotel.
The Embassy has arguably the best traditional Czech restaurant in town serving the hearty local fare in one of several elaborate dining rooms plus they have tables outside on the bridge over the river Teplá, which makes a lovely spot for an evening dinner.
If you are interested in trying a treatment or two in one of the town’s antique spas, the hotel will be able to recommend the best and book an appointment for you - including the infamous beer spa!
Park Hotel*** - Marienbad
Mariánské Láznê (or Marienbad as it was formerly known) is another of West Bohemia’s lovely old spa towns. The town rises across a hillside park with large open spaces, galleried cafés and fountains.
About a mile from town sits Royal Mariánské Láznê G.C. and opposite it, surrounded by quiet woodland, the fine Park Hotel. The hotel has good bedrooms, a large sunny patio and a bright cheerful restaurant.
The Park Hotel also has an indoor pool plus a full menu of in-house massages and treatments in its small spa area so you can be pampered in your own hotel if you don’t wish to try one of the string of spas in town.
