HOTELS FOR GOLF HOLIDAYS IN OBIDOS & PRAIA D'EL REY
The best places to stay on the northwest Lisbon coast.

Dating from the 14^th Century, the Hotel Real d'Obidos is a charming four star hotel with a very welcoming atmosphere where you will be made to feel right at home by the friendly staff in their medieval tunics.

The solid old building is furnished in keeping with its heritage, plenty of suits of armour and massive wooden furniture everywhere.  The bedrooms, each named after a Portuguese King, are similar in style, many with four-poster beds: bathrooms, you may be pleased to know, are in a much more 21st Century style!

There is no full-time restaurant at the Real d'Obidos, however dinners can be arranged for groups on request.  Every morning there is a breakfast banquet laid out - one of the most impressive we've seen.

Hotel Real d'Obidos occupies a very convenient location at the entrance to the walled town, meaning that you don't have to negotiate the narrow streets when getting in and out each day.  The hotel has a few hidden treasures tucked away, within its walls and up on its roof, such as the small swimming pool, roof garden and the underground car-park.

Praia del Rey is a man-made resort running along the shoreline north of the fishing port of Peniche.  It has developed into quite a village of brightly painted salmon pink holiday homes, alive in the holiday months, calmer out of season.  Right in the centre of all this and on the beach is the Praia d'el Rey hotel.

The Praia d'el Rey hotel is a large, luxury establishment constructed to U.S. golf resort specifications (it was a Marriott once-upon-a-time) so bedrooms are larger than average and have either a King bed or two Queen size ones (ideal as Twin rooms).
Around the hotel you will find a lobby bar with big windows looking out over the Atlantic surf, two restaurants: the informal 'Atlantic Grill' with its outdoor tables and the finer dining 'Romy' restaurant upstairs; night owls (and indoor smokers) will appreciate the late night bar downstairs.

The hotel spa has an indoor pool and jacuzzi plus sauna and steam rooms.  Therapist are also available for relaxation massages (including one with golf balls!) and a range of beauty treatments. 

N.B.  Clubhouse is about 1km from the hotel - there's a free shuttle bus.
