TAITTINGER PARIS-PAIRS 2025
August 15th- 18th
After a break of twelve years, it's about time that we headed back to fabulous Fontainebleau for the 2025 Taittinger Paris-Pairs.
Join us for three days of Taittinger Champagne, great golf, fun and friendly competition just south of Paris in the dense forests of Fontainebleau. We shall be staying in the centre of the town amidst all of its lively bresseries and close to the sprawlingly impressive chateau and gardens.
Playing at the age-old and rather exclusive Fontainebleau Golf Club on Saturday and the more modern in style Château de Cély on Sunday; it will be two nicely contrasting rounds.
First Prize: Magnum of Taittinger + £400 Holiday voucher
Second Prize: Magnum of Taittinger + £200 Holiday voucher
Third Prize: Magnum of Taittinger + £100 Holiday voucher
The competition is open to all Golf Cub members with an official Handicap/Index,
playing in mixed pairs
over two outstanding courses: Fontainebleau and Cély.
Winners decided by the highest combined Betterball Stableford score.
This unique and prestigious event is limited to twenty-four mixed pairs.
The Tournament Schedule
Friday 15th August
Channel crossings with Le Shuttle or P&O Ferries.
Arrive at L'Aigle Noir**** and check-in.
Afternoon: Free to investigate the town and/or the Château de Fontainebleau.
Evening: Taittinger reception, tournament registration* and welcome dinner (wines included) at L'Aigle Noir.
*Don't forget to bring your Handicap certificate and to pick-up your hand-made Italian golf shirt!
Saturday 16th August
Morning: First competition round at Fontainebleau Golf Club.
One of France's ultra-traditional, classic golf courses. Designed by the master-craftsman Tom Simpson way back at the turn of the last Century, the course weaves its way between the trees and outcropping granite (les grès) of the dense Forêt de Fontainebleau. Anyone who has played the likes of Woking or Chantilly (amongst one hundred others!) will recognise the architect's crafty bunkering. Beautiful pavilionesque Clubhouse for quiet post-round contemplation of it all.
N.B. No buggies at Fontainebleau, sorry! But they do have some single-seat scooters if you'd rather not walk (please request one when booking). However the land is pretty much flat and trolleys (both manual and electric) are permitted - as are caddies (given enough notice).
Afternoon and evening: at leisure to investigate Fontainebleau or maybe an afternoon/evening in Paris?
Sunday 17th August
Morning: Second competition round at Château de Cély Golf Club.
A half-an-hour drive away to the West of Fontainebleau and a much more modern layout (i.e. plenty of water!) around the fully renovated, highly polished, Château de Cély. The course rises across the sloping woodland facing the Château (now a conference centre) with some lovely views down across the course (buggies are available).
Afternoon: free.
Evening: Taittinger Champagne reception, followed by dinner at the hotel and, of course, the prize-giving.
Monday 18th August
Departure and return Channel crossings.
Or maybe stay a few extra days and enjoy the sights of Paris, nearby Versailles or perhaps another round of golf (or two)?
