Roman Ryder Rumble 2027
May 9th - 14th

Lake Bracciano - Rome

Come and discover a lesser-known Italian lake next Spring, as we take our Italian tournament to Lago di Bracciano just outside Rome: a lake you may never have heard of?  Well, it's very well-known to the denizens of Rome for it's cool waters that have taken the heat out of hundreds of Roman Summers.
Coincidentally, two of Italy's finest golf courses (Golf Nazionale and Olgiata) are within a short drive; plus, as it's a Ryder Cup year, we will also be taking the trip to play the Italian Ryder Cup course at Marco Simone.
There will be a full day-off for sightseeing midweek, or just relaxing by the lake; a day-out in Rome (by train) is another possibility.

The competition is open to all Golf Club members with an official Handicap: winners will be decided by the highest aggregate, Betterball, Stableford score* over the three days of the tournament.
*Full Handicap allowance.

First Prize: £400 Holiday voucher
Second Prize: £200 Holiday voucher
Third Prize: £100 Holiday voucher

Vigna Caio Hotel***** - Lake Bracciano

For the five nights of the event, we shall be staying at the finest hotel on Bracciano - the modern Vigna Caio Hotel*****.  Perched just below the Castello di Bracciano it's a haven of comfort and quiet within striking distance of the lake and the town of Bracciano.  More details of the hotel are to be found here: Vigna Caio*****.

The Tournament Schedule

Sunday 9th May

Flight to Rome, collect rental-car (or transfers if you prefer?); drive to Bracciano and check-in to the Vigna Caio***** overlooking the lake.

Spend the afternoon getting to know your new surroundings, take a lakeside stroll, or just relax by the pool.

Evening: Reception, tournament registration and welcome dinner at the hotel (wines included).

Monday 10th May

Morning: First round of the tournament competition at Golf Nazionale (Le Querce) Golf Club.

Created by the Federazione Italiano di Golf as a training camp for their teams; the course sits in a dense oak forest on one of Rome's seven hills.  A remote feel to every hole as you twist and turn your way through the magnificent trees.

Golf Nazionale is about twenty-minutes from the hotel.

Afternoon and evening: Free.

Tuesday 11th May

Morning: Second competition round at Marco Simone Golf Club (Ryder Cup venue 2023).

About an hour's drive around Rome's ring road to the scene of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone.  This is a true 'Stadium Course' with some spectacular-looking holes spread across a wide bowl and some wide water hazards too!  A very modern contrast to the two other courses that we will be playing: huge Greens as well, so bring your long-range putter!

The course is about an hour from the hotel.

Afternoon and evening: at leisure.Ryder Cup venue 2023

Marco Simone Golf Club - Rome
Wednesday 12th May

A full day-off to relax and investigate the lakeside towns, the castle of Bracciano or maybe head into Rome for the day?

The drive around the lake takes about an hour, passing through some small villages like Trevignano where restaurant tables line the water's edge.  There are several beaches too for a dip in the fresh, cool waters.

Culture-vultures will want to visit the well-preserved 15th Century Castello di Bracciano (or Orsini-Odescalchi Castle to give it its proper title) and take in the views of the Roman countryside from the ramparts. The Castello dominates the town of Bracciano, which is busy with day-trippers every day, quietening down again once the sun sets and the coaches have left.

Or, if three days of golf is not enough for you, then consider nearby Parco di Roma or Terre dei Consoli for an extra 18-holes.

It's going to be a busy day off...

Castello di Bracciano
Thursday 13th May

Morning: Final competition round at Olgiata Golf Club.

A short drive to one of Rome's mos exclusive Clubs in the wealthy suburb of Olgiata.  There are twenty-seven woodland holes at Olgiata that have been designed with imaginative use of the contours to ensure that no two holes are the same and that you'll need every club in the bag!

The course is about fifteen minutes from the hotel.

Afternoon: free.
Evening: Reception and prize-giving dinner at the Vigna Caio (wines included).

Flights and Hire-cars to Rome

Both of Rome's main airports are quite convenient for Bracciano; the closer of the two is Fiumicino/Leonardo do Vinci but Ciampino is only slightly further to drive.  From Fiumicino it will take about half-an-hour to get to Bracciano and it's a straightforward run on the Roman ringroad - the GRA.

Flights: Easyjet, British Airways, Ryanair (and a few others) offer flights from all over the UK and Ireland to Rome; please let us know if you would like us to book your flights or advise on the best routes for you?

Hire cars - or transfers?

Whether you ask us to book your flights or arrange these yourselves, we can organise a hire-car to be ready and waiting for you at the airport.
Costs for a five-day rental will be in the region of:

Renault Megane (suitable for two): £ 450.00

Opel Zafira (for four): £ 525.00
Unlimited mileage and standard insurances included.

If, on the other hand, you would prefer to be chauffered around then let us know and we can arrange transfers for you instead; although this will limit your flexibility for dining out and sightseeing during the week as the hotel is too far to walk into Bracciano or down to the lake.
