The tournament hotel - Sporthotel Alpin**** - Zell am See
We will be staying in the lovely old lakeside town of Zell am See - well known to skiers but as yet largely undiscovered by golfers!
The town offers everything a holidaymaker
needs - restaurants, cafés, bars and boutiques - and there just happens to be five excellent golf courses nearby! The golf courses are all on the flat plains so no crampons required!!!
In the midst of all the stunning scenery, the lovely Sporthotel Alpin has stood the test of time in the centre of the town and is by far the best place to stay for golfing in Austria.

Tournament Schedule
Sunday 7th June
Flights to Salzburg or Munich and drive to Zell am See.
Salzburg is just an hour from Zell am See and Munich two-hours, so there are plenty of options for flying to Austria.
Afternoon: Free.
Evening: Cocktail reception and dinner - wines included.
Monday 8th June
Morning: First competition round at Zell am See.
A 10-minute trip from the hotel to one af the largest Golf Clubs in Austria to start the week in style. We shall be playing the Kitzsteinhorn course, the slightly older and arguably slightly tougher of their two courses. It'll be a great start to golf in Austria for those who have never played there before: a bucolic stroll to the tune of cowbells.
Afternoon & Evening: free.
Tuesday 9th June
Morning: Second competition round at Mittersill.
About an hour away across through the lush green Mittersill valley for round two of the tournament on a course that is almost too Austrian to be true! Surrounded by the old farmhouses of the village this is quintessential Austrian golfing: please resist the urge to yodel whilst others are putting!
Afternoon & Evening: free.
Wednesday 10th June
A full day off to rest, relax and enjoy all that the Austrian lakes and mountains have to offer. Here you are in the heart of 'Sound of Music' country, where you can take a Summer gondola up into the mountains and gaze down on the Alps or enjoy a long lunch in a mountain restaurant? Another option would be a day out in Salzburg on the little red train that skirts the lake from Zell am See station. If you've never seen a glacier now is your chance on the funicular railway that will whisk you up to the ice fields at Kaprun. Or just enjoy Zell am See, the hotel pool and the beach...
It's sure to be a rather refreshing day off!
Thursday 11th June
Morning: Final competition round at Urslautal.
A half-an-hour drive north to Urslautal G.C. and a great test of golf under the gaze of the Steinernes Meer mountain range. A few tight holes to begin with then the course broadens out into 'Driver Country'!
Afternoon: free.
Evening: Reception and prize-giving dinner - wines included.
Friday 12th June
Departure day - or why not stay on and enjoy and investigate more of the delights of Austria: a weekend in Vienna or a luxury retreat into the mountains or take the Sound of Music Tour, for example?

Travel arrangements
Flights
The closest airport to Zell am See is Salzburg, which is just over an hour away by car; British Airways and Ryanair both operate flights from the London area during the Summer months. The other option is to fly into Munich, which has a vast number of connections from all over the UK and Europe, and is only an extra hour's drive to Zell am See.
Please call and speak to Cécile who can advise on the best routes, fares and schedules for you.
Hire-car or transfers?
We shall arrange a hire-car to be ready and waiting for you on arrival at Salzburg or Munich airports. Alternatively, should you prefer to be chauffered around Austria please let us know and we can arrange for our local taxi company to take care of all your toing-and-froing.
Self-drive?
Should you wish to take your own car, the drive from Calais will require an overnight stop somewhere as you wend your way down through France, Germany and Switzerland. It's a beautiful drive over the mountain passes and we can advise on the best places to stay en-route and arrange hotels for you too should you so wish.
