The tournament hotel - Le Diana****

Le Diana Hotel - Carnac Plage

We will be staying in Le Diana Hotel****, the best place by far in Carnac, overlooking the Ocean and 100m from the centre of town.  A small hotel with a super-friendly team who will have you feeling at home as soon as you walk-in.  The little town of Carnac has a very holiday feel about it - flip-flops and bikinis as far as the eye can see!  Carnac is a small village where the sreets are lined with cafés, bars, boutiques and restaurants all just a short stroll from the hotel; after golf, you can tuck your car away in the hotel's private carpark and stroll along the sun-soaked beach to dinner.

Tournament Schedule

Sunday 6th June

Arrival at Le Diana Hôtel in Carnac-Plage.
Carnac is easily reached from the ports of St. Malo or Caen in a couple of hours after an overnight crossing from Portsmouth, Plymouth or Poole with Brittany Ferries (day crossings also available); if you prefer to pass under the Channel via Le Shuttle allow six-to-seven hours driving time on the French side (let us know if you need an overnight stop?).

Afternoon: Free.

Evening: Cocktail reception and dinner at the hotel - wines included.

Trouville Casino

Monday 7th June

Morning: First competition round at St. Laurent.

A 20-minute drive to one of Brittany's first golf courses at St. Laurent.  A relatively gentle test to start the week amidst the pines across level terrain so easily walked with just the occasional water hazard and the odd dry-stonewall to negotiate!

Afternoon & Evening: free.

St. Laurent Golf Club

Tuesday 8th June

Morning: Second competition round at Ploemeur-Océan.

About an hour away from Carnac and a sterner, coastal test for day two of the tournament.  Ploemeur-Océan is Brittany's only true links course: stretching along the Atlantic for half of its holes, the ocean breezes and heavy rough are critical factors in this wonderfully wild setting: on a clear day it's a beautiful place to be.

Afternoon & Evening: free.

Champ de Bataille Golf Course

Wednesday 9th June

A full day-off to rest and relax and enjoy all that southern Brittany has to offer.
Aside from Carnac's long sandy beaches, rocky coves, oyster farms and peaceful waterways there are the alignments of intriguing prehistoric megaliths to investigate.  These massive blocks of granite spread in straight lines for kilometres around the countryside; an impressive, inexplicable sight.

Afterwards, maybe head out along the coast to the Quiberon peninsula and admire the yachts sailing between the rocky coves or linger over lunch on the quayside at Locmariaquer or take a boat trip out to the island nature reserves like Belle Isle or Isle aux Moines or visit the Nazi U-boat pens at Lorient or perhaps just relax on the beach?

It's going to be a busy day of rest!

Thursday 10th June

Morning: Final competition round at Baden.

Only ten minutes form Carnac to one of the most endearing courses in France.  Baden has a magnificent setting fringing the Gulf of Morbihan and a wonderful variety of holes in a layout that wanders in-and-out of the forest: all enveloped in an unpretentious ambience (we don't think they realise just how good their course is!?!).

Afternoon: free.

Evening: Reception and prize-giving dinner - wines included.

Amirauté Golf Club

Friday 11th June

Departure day - or why not stay on and enjoy the long Summer days in Brittany or wander home along the Loire?
There is plenty to see and do between Carnac and the ports - many more golf courses too: take a look at our Normandy and Brittany pages.
