THE BEST HOTELS IN BRUGGE FOR GOLF HOLIDAYS
Martin's Brugge***
In the very centre of Brugge, Martin's Hotel really does occupy position "A1". Recently refurbished it is now a modern and elegant hotel. The re-design has been very well thought out and the bedrooms have all the latest creature comforts from flat-screen TV's to mini-bars and hair-dryers.
The public areas are clean and uncluttered: the breakfast room is bright and airy (and there is the external courtyard too); the bar, though small is the perfect spot to gather before heading out to investigate all of Brugge's sights, cafés, bars and restaurants. (Martin's Brugge does not have its own restaurant).
Conveniently the hotel has an underground car-park (albeit limited to cars of standard height), a rarity in the centre of a city originally designed with horses and carts in mind!
Please let us know if you require Single rooms as there are some good value "Cosy" rooms at the top of the hotel.
Martins Relais*** (formely Oud Huis Amsterdam)
Four old Brugge townhouses have been slowly melded over the last decade into one hotel that could not be more typically Bruggian. High ceilings and polished wooden floors in the reception and drawing rooms with antique furniture fighting for pride of place in the ‘Oud Huis’ (now rather dully relabelled Martins Relais).
Bedrooms are in a similar style with exquisite furniture, most look out over one of Brugge’s canals and the top floor rooms are delightful with their attractive exposed roof beams (there is a lift by the way).
No restaurant at the Oud Huis but a rather fine breakfast is served on the ground floor and before you wander out to one of Brugge’s hundred or more restaurants, why not gather round the hearth for an aperitif in the main sitting room?
The Oud Huis does not have a car park but there is a small square opposite with quite a few spaces.
