Golf holidays in Brugge
The medieval city of Brugge seems to have been designed with casual strolling in mind: huge squares and quaint corners, with fascinating Flemish architecture and an inter-linking canal system that makes it the 'Venice of Belgium'.
Eternally popular with tourists for all of the above reasons, the narrow streets and broad squares of Brugge groan with places to sip, shop, gaze, graze, quaff and munch. Every weekend tourists flood in from all the countries that border Belgium to enjoy Brugge's myriad architectural and epicurean delights.
The good news is that on top of all this general sightseeing there are some very good golf courses too! The closest course to Brugge is Damme, a thriving Golf Club with a course that is a very good test of parkland golf plus a new nine-holes that has plenty of water to play in! The fabulous golf courses up on the Belgian coast (Royal Zoute and Royal Ostend) are well under an hour away so very easy to play from your base in central Bruges. Another little gem lies over near Ghent - Royal Latem - a very discrete private members Golf Club that is more than worth the drive. For a change of nationality Oostburg lies just over the Dutch border and heading back towards Calais, Dunkirk, Palingbeek or Koksijde all make excellent places to stop for a round en-route to the Eurotunnel or ferry.
So you can see, Bruges has an awful lot to offer the holiday golfer, plus the proximity of Brugge to the Channel ports makes it an ideal venue for a short golfbreak - or it could be a stop-off en-route to other Belgian golf destinations, or even further afield...
Golf holidays in Knokke (for Royal Zoute & Royal Ostend)
Up on the Belgian coast there are two great golf courses - Royal Zoute and Royal Oostende. Both courses are well worth a round or two and the little coastal towns like Knokke-Heist are busy during the height of Summer, but very peaceful in Spring and Autumn. If you would like to stay as close a possible to these two great seaside golf courses and grab a breath of sea air too then a golfbreak on the coast is a must.
We can arrange for you to stay up on the Belgian coast for your golf holiday if you like or even in the delightful Dormy rooms at Royal Zoute Golf Club - just ask us. The star of the golfing show is without a doubt Royal Zoute, which is just a delightful place to play golf - with a gorgeous Clubhouse too. Royal Ostend is the genuine links article with half the holes running through the dunes alongside the (breezy) beach.
If these three aren't enough for you then hop over the Dutch border for a round at the pretty yet treacherous Oostburg, or you could stop off at Palingbeek in France (just) for a round to break the journey to and from Calais or alternatively at Dunkirk before sailing away.
