Golf holidays in Agadir
Agadir is a lively beach resort, with long stretches of
golden sand and a fabulously warm climate all year round without ever
getting too hot. This combination has attracted holidaymakers from all
across Europe who arrive for their two weeks of Winter sun on charter flights
run by the major package-holiday companies from France and Germany.
This has led to the resort becoming quite un-Moroccan in many ways; more
like the kind of resort you might find on the cheaper Spanish Costas,
albeit on a much smaller and more civilised scale.
The upside of this is that there is plenty of evening
entertainment on offer, bars and nightclubs a-plenty; that said, the large majority of tourists are family groups and
there is a plethora of hotels designed to cater for them. The lively
parts of town are easily identified by flashing neon and can be avoided
if you are looking for a quieter golf holiday in Agadir!
For golf holidays where winter sun and evening activities are as important as the daytime's, Agadir is the perfect Moroccan golf holiday destination.
Agadir - golf courses
There is plenty of golf to choose from in Agadir, easily enough to keep you busy over a week in the perpetual Moroccan sunshine.
The original two courses at Golf du Soleil are also two of the best: Tikida and Challenge. The Club is now owned by the Rui Tikida hotel group who specialise in 'All-Inclusive' package style holidays, however they also have a more up-market all-suites hotel on their golf courses, which makes a great spot for a resort-based golf holiday close to Agadir.
The third course to be built in Agadir was Golf des Dunes, which is slightly more demanding physically with several sandhill sections along with the lakes and pines: many believe it has the best 27-holes in Agadir - it would be hard to argue!
There have been two recent additions to the Agadir golf scene: Golf de l'Ocean, which is developing nicely and the stunning coastal masterpiece outside the surf-town of Tazagzout, complete with five-star hotel on-site that makes a superb seaside golf holiday resort.
Agadir - where to stay
The obvious choice is any of the luxury hotels that line the seafront in Agadir. For out-and-out luxury our favourite is the Sofitel Royal Bay, which has every modern comfort or stay next door at its sister hotel the Sofitel Thalassa Agadir.
If you like an 'All-Inclusive' style holiday then the Rui hotels on the beach in Agadir offer very good value: the trade off being lots of children!
For peace and quiet on a golf course you have a choice of two rather fine hotels. Either the luxury Suites at the Tikida Golf Palace on the Golf du Soleil courses if you want to be close to Agadir or the swanky new hotel on the course at Tazaghzout if you want to be beside the seaside: both are unbeatable.
