Bell Hotel*** - Sandwich

Bell Hotel, Sandwich.

On the banks of the River Stour in Sandwich, the Bell Hotel is the finest example of one of the original coaching inns of the town.

Currently owned by Shepherd Neame (the Kent brewery) it has had a lot of money invested in it to make it the place to stay in Sandwich.  Nowadays it is a very refined small hotel with a great location.

Bedrooms are warm, cosy and well furnished (the four-poster suite is very impressive), bathrooms are fully modernised too.

Downstairs sunlight floods through the conservatory style extension into the bright breakfast room and restaurant.  The food at The Bell is tremendous, with tables outside too for open-air dining.  Should you wish to eat out, there are plenty of options in town or just down by the riverside.

Prince's Lodge***

A phoenix has risen from the ashes of the old Prince's Clubhouse that sadly burnt down in the late eighties.  From the charred ruins, the Lodge has arisen and along with two new buildings, it now offers 36 bedrooms and two rather nice Suites.

The accommodation at Prince's is thoroughly modern in style with spacious bedrooms designed for golfers and two-bedroomed apartments that have the added luxury of a sitting room.  Bathrooms have been well thought through too, making the Lodge at Prince's a very comfortable place to stay for a golf holiday in Sandwich.

The Lodge has its own bar and and a rather fine restaurant, plus there is the Clubhouse just the length of a Fairway away (easily strollable).  If you wish to dine out there are plenty of restaurants in Sandwich although that will require a short drive or a taxi trip and more offerings in Deal (slightly further away).

While you are at Prince's Lodge their 27 holes are right on your doorstep, Royal St. George's is right in front of you too and there's a sneaky snicket that will take you along the beach road straight to Royal Cinque Ports' Clubhouse - all very easy!
