This year our Italian Lakes tournament takes us back to Lake Como and the medieval town of Como perched on the southern shores of the lake.  The courses are three of Italy's finest; beginning with one of Italy's timeless classics Villa d'Este, then on to the specimen trees and rhoddodendrons of Barlassina before a final day at the Italian Open course at Monticello: quite a trio.

In between there will be a full day off for sightseeing, and relaxing, although with so much to do in the region twenty-four hours may not be long enough!

The tournament hotel - Albergo Terminus****

Albergo Terminus hotel - Lake Como

For the five nights of the event we shall be staying in the finest Como hotel on the waterfront - the Albergo Terminus****.  A recent conversion of an old lakefront residence, it nowadays offers the best rooms and location in Como.

The Tournament Schedule

Sunday 5th May

Check-in to the Albergo Terminus****
Afternoon: free to investigate your new surroundings, head over the road to hop on the Como ferries, stroll through the park along the lakeshore or the narrow streets of the old town all around the hotel, or just relax in the hotel garden.

Lake Como ferry and mountains
Monday 6th May

Morning: First round of the competition at Villa d'Este.

A short trip up to golf heaven at Villa d'Este above the lake.  An ultra-traditional Club with a fascinating course that twists through the forest around the delightful Clubhouse.  Lunch on the terazza after your round is a treat.

The course is about fifteen-minutes from the hotel.

Afternoon and evening: Free.

Villa d'Este Golf Club - Lake Como
Tuesday 7th May

Morning: Second competition round at Barlassina G.C.

A trip south towards Milan to a wonderful woodland course through avenues of specimen trees and bursts of rhododdendrons (that should be at peak flower in early May).  Level going, so easily walked.

The course is about thirty-minutes from the hotel.

Afternoon and evening: at leisure.

Wednesday 8th May

A full day off to relax and soak up the beauty of Lake Como and the surrounding hills.

The old medieval walled town of Como with its marbled cathedral is perfect for casual strolling, cappucino tasting (with or without dolcetta) and of course designer shopping for a very easy morning.

After which, you can hop on one of the hydrofoils that skim across the water up to the picture-postcard town of Bellagio.

In the evening why not jump on the funicular up to Brunate for stunning views of the lake and the distant Alps at the northern end of Lake Como?

Alternatively, a day out in Milan is very easy on the direct trains from Como's central station.

Or if three days of golf is not enough for you then consider the drive over to Bergamo to play their wonderful Alpine course and visit the delightful old hilltop town.

Too much to do really for just one day!

Piazza Volta - Como
Thursday 9th May

Morning: Third and Final competition round at Monticello G.C.

One of Como's swankiest Golf Clubs where Ferraris and Lamborghinis vie for pride of parking place at the weekends.  There are two outstanding courses: the long Rosso or the slightly shorter Blu: either of which will be a fitting setting to determine our 2024 champions.

Evening: Reception and prize-giving dinner at the Albergo Terminus (wines included).
