A mixed-pairs competition week for grown-up golfers (i.e. those over fifty years of age).
Join us for three days of competition golf and five nights of five-star luxury in the lavish surroundings of Le Normandy Hôtel***** the finest place to stay in Deauville - one of France's swankiest seaside resorts. The competition is open to all Golf Club members with an official Handicap: winners will be decided by the highest aggregate, Betterball, Stableford score* over the three days of the tournament.
*Full Handicap allowance.

First Prize: £400 Holiday voucher
Second Prize: £200 Holiday voucher
Third Prize: £100 Holiday voucher

The tournament hotel - Le Normandy*****

We will be staying in utter luxury in the centre of Deauville at the fabulous Normandy Hotel, facing the golden sands with their iconic boardwalks and star-studded bathing huts. Beside the hotel is the Casino and behind are all the main shopping streets of Deauville, crammed with boutiques, cafés, bars and restaurants. A short stroll from the hotel, just across the estuary of the river Touques, is Deauville's sister town of Trouville.  This is a town always seeems livelier than Deauville (perhaps because it's a little cheaper?!?) with a more hedonistic crowd enjoying the seafood restaurants that line the main street down past the yachts to its own Casino and boardwalked beaches.

Tournament Schedule

Sunday 27th June

Arrival at the Le Normandy Hôtel.
Deauville is well-placed for all the Channel ports: whether you are travelling on the overnight ferries from Portsmouth to Caen or a quick hop on the Eurotunnel, you will only be left with an easy drive on the French side. There are day sailings too to Cherbourg, Caen, Le Havre or even Dieppe and Plymouth to Roscoff is ideal for those living in the West Country.

Afternoon: Free.

Evening: Cocktail reception and dinner - wines included.

Monday 28th June

Morning: First competition round at St. Julien.
A 15-minute jaunt through the Normandy countryside to the Auge Valley and the quintessential Norman course at St. Julien.  Green rolling hills surrounded by apple orchards and herds of Limousin grazing in the meadows - you could only be in Normandy!

Afternoon & Evening: free.

Tuesday 29th June

Morning: Second competition round at Etretat.
Up-and-away across the breathtaking Pont de Normandie for the tournament's second round, to the amazing cliff-top links at Etretat.  An inauspicious clubhouse belies what lies behind the searing yellow gorse that encirlces it. Etetat sits atop towering chalk cliffs that shine bright white against clear blue skies above and deep blue sea below. Always breezy (so bring your links game) and always entertaining: we are assured of a great day out beside the sea.

Afternoon & Evening: free.

Wednesday 30th June

A full day off to rest and relax and enjoy all that Normandy has to offer: long sandy beaches, bucolic countryside dotted with the classic Normandy cream-and-chocolate, wattle-and-daub, thatched farmhouses, a little sailing maybe, the cathedrals at Caen or Rouen, try your luck at one of the casinos in Deauville or Trouville, lunch by the quay in Honfleur, some 'me time' in the hotel spa, a little shopping in Deauville's fancy boutiques, a little Calvados and Pommeau tasting, historians might like to visit Pegasus Bridge, the Normandy landing beaches and maybe a visit to the (very moving) Caen Mémorial too?

It's going to be a busy day of rest!

Thursday 1st July

Morning: Final competition round at Amirauté.
The closest course to Deauville, on the Touques river plain just outside town.  An excellent, US-style course with huge bunkers and huge lakes that follows the twists and turns of the river Touques.  Quirkily, and rather uniquely, the owner has expressed his artistic muse with a few sculptures scattered around the course - unusual distractions but ones that are never really in play.

Afternoon: free.

Evening: Reception and prize-giving dinner - wines included.

Friday 2nd July

Departure day - or why not stay on and enjoy the long Summer days in Normandy?  Or even move on and take in some Breton delights?  By the way, there are plenty more golf courses around Deauville and Rouen - and in Brittany too: take a look at our Normandy and Brittany pages.
